Jose Deschamps is a game designer and photographer based on New York City. He was born and raised in the Bronx with a passion for expressing himself through art. In his body of work, Jose intents to discuss political and social issues under-representing minorities. He showcases these issues through the use of interactive media, involving either virtual reality or game environment.
His passion for this topic stems from the fact that Jose himself belongs to one of these marginalized groups. Being half Puerto Rican and Dominican he described that at times, he’s felt powerless and without a voice. This is why he uses art, to tell his unique narrative.
“I want to impact individuals to gain a voice within themselves.” That’s his main goal through his work. Jose’s work reflects the New York city life. He expressed, “I try to encapsulate the story of all the different people that travel through the city. Either if it’s a tourist or native New Yorker, I want to show the diversity and the narrations of the culture that is here.”
Clearly, as we can see, this is the feeling you get when looking at this images.
And yes, indeed, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
